Wow googling this guy is difficult as fuck, Note: future rappers please don't take a rap name that is also a common word as well as the name of a popular clothing brand, no one will ever be able to find out shit about you on the internet.Gap is from Akron, OH and is part of Ampichino's gang. Features by him can be found on just about every release by Ampichino, Young Bossi, Freeze, Ren Fetti, etc. Just this year Gap has started to focus more on his solo material with the release of the mixtape, Makin Love To the Streets in February of this year and I Am How I Rap, which came out a couple weeks ago.
Gap is tight, he has a real unique style in which his voice sort of bounces through each line and his verses can be effortlessly fast at times. Shoboat is probably the only comparable rapper out right now. Let's get to the music:
Young Bossi ft. Gap "Feelin' It"
Off Young Bossi's excellent Fishscale album from 2010. This is the first song that made me really take notice of Gap. He absolutely kills the chorus and his raps in the first and third verse are amazing. The beat is driven by a simple piano loop and has a laid back atmosphere that Gap refuses to accept as his voice jumps all over the place, filling any empty space in the song. The energy he brings to this song is really something special.
Gap ft. Bird Money "Bands"
This song is so damn catchy, the way he repeats the last part of each of his lines is tight and makes the song especially memorable. The beat is pretty minimal, but not much is needed when Gap carries the song so well. I could see this playing on the radio if the radio played good music.

Gap ft. The Jacka, Ampichino & Young Bossi "I Don't Give a Shit"
Gap does not give a shit about anything, I mean peep this chorus:
Homie said I killed his best friend, I don't give a shit
N***a asked me was I scared to die, I don't give a shit
N***a said he fucked my main bitch, I don't give a shit
N***a got killed 'cause he snitced, I don't give a shit
Wow Gap really does not give a shit, if someone told me I killed their best friend I'd probably feel pretty bad about that and buy the guy lunch or something to make up for it, but Gap could care less.
As with most songs along these lines, Jacka sounds like the voice of reason here, taking on the persona of a melancholy thug who has seen it all and learned from his past mistakes.
It'd be nice to hear some more songs with just Gap on the track, but with features like this you can't really complain.
Gap ft. Praise Money & Young Bossi "Action"Stripper anthem of the year? Idk, but it's up there with "Round of Applause" for sure. The beat is incredible, hopefully strip clubs in Akron will play this song while women take off their clothes for money and the goobers in attendance will hear it and become fans of Gap and then he will become a big deal.

Gap "Black Candy Paint"
Saving the best for last, this is the only true solo song on Gap's new album and easily the best one on it. Does this beat sound familiar to you though? Regardless, this song is awesome and hints at what Gap is capable of in the future.
Gap's style is still developing and I think as long as he cuts down on the features for his next release and continues to make catchy songs he will start to gain a substantial following.
What do you think of Gap?
Should Gap change his name? To what?
Do you remember in like '00 or '01 when you weren't shit if you didn't have one of those puffy vests from Gap? I was still a dumb kid then, but I'm pretty sure you could not get laid without one of them shits on, male or female.
Which one of these Divshare audio players is the best looking to you?
Just trying to keep this site stylish bros.
I enjoyed these songs, especially "I don't give a shit'. I also fully enjoyed the first picture of Gap with him wearing a GAP shirt (LOL, predictable, my dude) and on top of that a champion baseball jacket AND champion fitted hat, which I found to be very stylish. Also I like how he's holding the bullet in his hand like "with this i will fully fuck you up or kill you".
ReplyDeleteAlso Thomas I can fully appreciate the last Divshare player as it is the Red Berry Ciroc flavor/color. For reference please see this image:

Man this dude is nice. I Don't Give A Shit is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI wish divshare worked in wordpress, I need that blue icy joint.
Conflicting opinions on the best Divshare color?!? This is going to be harder than I thought, I'll have to consult with our in-house designer Jacque Francois Augistine about this.
ReplyDeleteYou already know I'm a fan of Gap. I think his new album is pretty solid. He should change his rap name, but not to "The Gapper" because if you forget one letter you'll get google results for "The Gaper"....
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few people try to bring those vests back, I think they're a few year short for that to come back into the fashion cycle.
Personally, I feel like the blue divshare goes along with the blogs main color scheme very well. Although I'm going to have to insist any Basedgod songs be posted using the pink one... because; Bitch Mob.
LOL "The Gaper" sounds like it could be Smoov-E's new rap alias. I'm kind of feeling the pink Divshare player (no homo), definitely going to have to use that on special occasions.
